New King Soopers Rewards Program

New King Soopers Rewards Program

King Soopers is changing their Community Rewards program – and it’s even easier. Once signed up, each time you swipe you King Soopers card, Mountain Song Community School will get a percentage of your spending. New users to King Soopers will need basic information like your name and King Soopers reward card number. You no longer need the reloadable gift card as of April 1.

Beginning April 1st, King Soopers is launching a new rewards card program for school fundraising called the King Soopers Community Rewards Program. Under this program, King Soopers has committed $10 million annually which will be divided amongst all Colorado registered nonprofits every quarter ($2.5 million quarterly). The amount received is based upon our percentage of spending as it relates to the total spending of all participating
King Soopers Community Rewards organizations. The more members and supporters Mountain Song has signed up who are shopping at King Soopers, the greater the payout.

Q&A:
Q: I am not a participant in the King Soopers grocery card program but the King Soopers Community Rewards Program sounds like something I would like to be part of. Can I have more information?
A: Being a participant in the King Soopers Community Rewards Program is a great way to give back to Mountain Song Community School without doing anything more than shop for groceries. Once you register your rewards card and designate Mountain Song Community School as your preferred non-profit, King Soopers will do the rest. Each time you shop at King Soopers (or an affiliate such as City Market), any eligible item will earn a reward. At the end of each quarter, King Soopers will mail a rewards check to Mountain Song Community School.

Q: What is the difference between a rewards card and a grocery card?
A: Your rewards card is the card you scan at the register to get the King Soopers lower prices on items you buy every day. Some people do not have an actual card and use their alternate id (phone number) instead. The grocery card is the card you purchased from a charity that you re-load funds onto in order to earn your rebate. These cards are being phased out, effective April 1st any reloaded will not generate a rebate.

Q: What does this mean for my loaded grocery card(s)?
A: Your loaded grocery card can still be used to purchase groceries. Just know that beginning on April 1st, you will no longer is earning a rebate when the grocery card is re-loaded (rebate is earned when you use your rewards card instead). Feel free to use your grocery card until there is a $0 balance. After that, discard the grocery card.

Q: Will I earn rebates on the same items I did before with the reloadable grocery card?
A: Supporters earn rewards on almost anything, every time they shop. However, there are specific purchases that cannot be included such as: alcohol, tobacco products, government-assisted pharmacy expenses, postage stamps, Kroger Co. Family of Stores Gift Cards, Green Dot reloadable products, MoneyPaks, 1-2-3 Rewards Reloadable Visa Prepaid Debit Card, ReCharge Cards, American Express Variable Load Gift Cards, Visa Variable Load Gift Cards, MasterCard Variable Load Gift Cards, bottle deposits, lottery and promotional tickets, money orders, Western Union, fuel and sales tax are excluded from eligible purchases. Eligible pharmacy purchases include out-of-pocket co-pays for nongovernment assisted pharmacy programs.

Q: I have a King Soopers grocery card and a Safeway grocery card. Are both cards changing to this new program?
A: No, only King Soopers is launching this new program, continue to use your Safeway grocery card as usual.
