My name is Lance May and I have been blessed to be a teacher at Mountain Song Community School since 2015.
I am a double graduate of UCCS in Anthropology (B.A. – 1996) and Education, Instruction and Curriculum (M.A. – 2004). I am also a cornerstone member of the Pike’s Peak Regional Initiative for Science and Math (PRISM) from 2006-2007.
An avid musician of 30 years, a woodworker, artist and all around DIY-er, being able to blend those skills and my experience is very rewarding in the educations of our amazing children!
I’ve always believed in making our classroom a warm and inviting place, full of kindness, curiosity, teamwork and intellectual growth where kids WANT to be.
Being able to use Dr. Steiner’s “Whole Child” approach has been and continues to be the most rewarding work I’ve ever experienced as an educator. Having come from a rich cultural and ethnic background myself, I strive to make the important connection with each and every child.
As a professor of mine once told me “If you can’t reach ’em… you can’t teach ’em!”
